NTS Jobs & Tests: How Applications, Fees (1Link 1Bill) & Roll Number Slips Work
Departments across Pakistan hire through the National Testing Service. This guide explains the NTS application cycle — the online form, paying the test fee through 1Link 1Bill, posting the hard copy, and downloading your roll number slip.

The National Testing Service (NTS) conducts recruitment tests for government departments, public-sector organisations, universities and companies across Pakistan. An NTS job advertisement follows a fixed cycle, and candidates lose their chance most often by misunderstanding its steps — especially the fee payment and the hard-copy requirement.
Step 1 — Apply online at nts.org.pk
Open the NTS website and find the project (the department and advertisement you are applying against — it has a project name and sometimes an ad code). Fill the online application form for your post. Check the eligibility on the project page first: education, age, domicile and the last date are all printed there.
Step 2 — Pay the test fee through 1Link 1Bill
NTS test fees are paid through the 1Link 1Bill system. After filling the form you get a consumer / reference number; pay it through any participating bank's mobile app or ATM, or through EasyPaisa or JazzCash, and keep the payment confirmation. The exact fee is printed on the project's application form — it differs from project to project. Pay only against your own form's reference number; never pay cash to any person.
Step 3 — Post the hard copy (where the project requires it)
Many NTS projects require you to print the filled form and post it with the paid deposit slip, CNIC copy, photographs and attested documents to the NTS office address printed on the form, so that it reaches before the closing date. A form submitted online but whose hard copy arrives late is not entertained. Use a courier with tracking, and post several days early.
Step 4 — Roll number slip and test day
Before the test, NTS uploads roll number slips on its website. Download yours, note the test centre and reporting time, and carry the slip with your original CNIC on test day. Results are announced on the NTS website against your roll number or CNIC; the department then calls qualifying candidates for interviews.
NTS also runs admission tests
The same system runs the NAT (for undergraduate admissions) and GAT (for MS/PhD admissions) tests used by universities across Pakistan — see our GAT & NAT schedule guide for the current dates. In all cases the rule is the same: the project page on nts.org.pk is the only authoritative source for dates, fees and instructions.
