How to Check Merit Lists, Test Results & Roll Number Slips
Results in Pakistan's recruitment system are published as PDFs and portal notices — easy to miss if you only watch social media. This guide shows where each commission and testing service publishes results, and how merit lists are read.

More candidates miss a recruitment stage by not seeing a notice than by failing a test. Test schedules, roll number slips, results and merit lists are published on the recruiting body's own website — usually as a notice or a PDF — and social media pages repeat them late, wrongly, or not at all. Here is where each major body publishes, and how to read what it publishes.
Where results are officially published
- FPSC (fpsc.gov.pk): test schedules and admission certificates under its examinations section; written results and final recommendations as notices and PDFs naming successful candidates by roll number
- Provincial commissions (PPSC, SPSC, KPPSC, BPSC): results and merit lists on the commission's website, searchable by post and case number; PPSC also issues results per advertisement number
- NTS (nts.org.pk): roll number slips before the test and results after it — checkable by roll number or CNIC on the project/results pages
- National Job Portal (njp.gov.pk): application status inside your account; shortlist and interview calls normally come from the department itself by post, SMS or email
Reading a merit list correctly
A merit list is not a list of everyone who passed. It ranks candidates by aggregate marks — typically the written test, academic record and interview combined under the formula printed in the advertisement — and the appointing authority selects from the top, quota by quota. Three things to check on your list: your aggregate and position, the quota against which you have been placed (open merit, women, minority, district, and so on), and the cut-off for your quota, which is simply the aggregate of the last selected candidate in it.
Being "on the merit list" below the number of posts means you are on the waiting list in most systems — if a selected candidate does not join, the next candidate in the same quota is offered the post. Keep your documents and phone active during this period.
Roll number slips — the step candidates forget
Roll number slips (admission certificates) are placed online days before the test; no slip is posted to your home by most bodies now. Download and print it as soon as it appears, verify your name, CNIC and test centre, and report any error to the commission immediately — corrections are only entertained before the test. On test day, the slip plus your original CNIC is your entry pass.
A weekly habit that works
From the day you apply until the final merit list, check the recruiting body's website once a week — and daily once tests or results are expected. Save every PDF you are named in. Recruitment records stay useful for years: candidates regularly need their old roll numbers and result references for later applications and verifications.
