How to Apply Online for Government Jobs in Pakistan — Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Most government jobs in Pakistan are now applied for online through FPSC, PPSC, NTS or the National Job Portal. This guide walks you through the whole process — account, form, fee, documents and submission — without missing a step.

Almost every government job in Pakistan is now applied for online. Commissions like FPSC and PPSC, testing services like NTS, and the federal National Job Portal (NJP) all use online forms — and a small mistake in the form is the most common reason good candidates get rejected before the test. This guide takes you through the complete process in order.

Step 1 — Read the advertisement properly

Before touching the form, read the full advertisement and note five things: the exact post name and scale, the education required, the age limit (and whether you get relaxation), the domicile or quota required, and the last date. If you do not meet the education or domicile requirement, do not apply — the fee is never refunded and the application will be rejected at scrutiny.

Step 2 — Create your account on the right portal

Each system has its own portal: fpsc.gov.pk for federal commission jobs, your provincial commission's website (for example ppsc.gop.pk for Punjab), nts.org.pk for NTS projects, and njp.gov.pk for most federal ministry jobs. Register with a mobile number and email address that you actually use — your roll number slip, test date and interview call all arrive there.

Step 3 — Fill the form in one sitting, carefully

Keep your CNIC, domicile and educational documents in front of you and type the details exactly as printed on them — name spelling, father's name, date of birth and marks. A mismatch between the form and your documents is the single biggest cause of rejection at the document-checking stage. Select the correct post and test centre, and upload a recent photograph that meets the portal's size rules.

Step 4 — Pay the fee the official way

Where a fee applies, pay it only through the method printed in the advertisement: the commission's PSID or challan through the designated bank or mobile banking channels (such as 1Link 1Bill for NTS), or the portal's own online payment. Never hand cash or transfer money to any person or agent — no genuine recruitment takes money that way.

Step 5 — Submit before the deadline, then save everything

Portals slow down or crash on the last day, so submit at least two or three days early. After submitting, download and save the submitted form, the fee receipt and (when issued) your roll number slip. Note your application or tracking ID — you will need it for results and correspondence.

After applying

Watch the portal and your SMS for the test schedule. Download the roll number slip as soon as it is uploaded, check the test centre, and start preparation immediately — most commission tests are held a few weeks to a few months after the closing date. If your application status shows a deficiency (for example a missing document), fix it within the time the commission allows.

The golden rule through all of this: the official advertisement and the official portal are the only sources to trust. Everything on AkhbarJobs links you back to them.
