About Pakistan Army
The Pakistan Army is the land warfare branch of Pakistan's armed forces and one of the largest employers of young men in the country. Headquartered at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, it is responsible for defending Pakistan's land borders and supporting the state during emergencies such as floods, earthquakes and other national crises. Since independence in 1947, the Army has developed into a large, organised force made up of fighting arms such as infantry, armour and artillery, and supporting services such as signals, engineering, medical, clerical and religious staff. Soldiers and officers serve in units posted all over Pakistan, from the northern mountains to the deserts of Sindh and the plains of Punjab. Recruitment of soldiers and Junior Commissioned Officers is carried out through a nationwide network of Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs) and Recruitment Offices, which conduct registration, testing, medical examination and interviews in a standard, merit-based process. Among the JCO ranks, the Naib Khatib holds a special position: he is the unit's religious teacher who leads prayers, delivers sermons and provides religious guidance and moral support to the troops. For thousands of families, Army service means a disciplined career, structured training, accommodation, medical cover and a pension after retirement.

- Junior Commissioned Officer (Naib Khatib): The Naib Khatib is a unit's religious teacher and imam: he leads daily prayers, delivers the Friday sermon, teaches the Quran and provides religious guidance and moral support to soldiers.
- Sipahi — General Duty: General Duty soldiers form the backbone of the Army's fighting units. Duties include guard and sentry duty, field exercises, operational deployments and the daily duties of the unit.
- Sipahi — Technical Trade: Technical soldiers work with the Army's equipment: they help operate, maintain and repair vehicles, weapons systems, communications and workshop machinery in technical units and field workshops.
- Sipahi — Driver: Army drivers drive and maintain military vehicles, from jeeps and trucks to supply convoys, and are responsible for the safe transport of troops, equipment and rations.
- Sipahi — Military Police: Military Police personnel maintain discipline and security inside cantonments and military installations, control military traffic and assist in the enforcement of Army rules and regulations.
- Sipahi — Clerk: Clerks handle the paperwork of a unit or office: service records, correspondence, files, returns and computer-based documentation that keep a unit's administration running smoothly.
- Sipahi — Cook: Cooks prepare meals for soldiers in unit cook houses and messes, manage kitchen stores and rations, and maintain hygiene standards in food preparation and serving.
- Sanitary Worker: Sanitary workers keep units, offices and cantonment areas clean and hygienic. It is a support role open to candidates with low formal education who are physically fit for the work.
Eligibility Criteria — Who Can Apply
- Male citizen of Pakistan, Azad Kashmir or Gilgit-Baltistan (a separate quota for minorities applies)
- Age (as of 24 November 2026): Naib Khatib 20–28 years (up to 35 for serving Army personnel); Sipahi trades 17½–23 years; Sanitary Worker 17½–35 years
- Age relaxations in the notice: 1 year for graduates, 2 years for legal heirs of martyrs and war-injured personnel, 3 years for Balochistan and merged-district (ex-FATA) candidates
- Junior Commissioned Officer (Naib Khatib): Dars-e-Nizami from an HEC-recognised institution along with FA/FSc or equivalent
- Sipahi General Duty, Driver, Military Police & Cook: Matriculation or above (domicile-based concessions in standards apply for Balochistan and merged-district candidates — confirm at your AS&RC)
- Sipahi Technical Trade: Matric with Science, minimum B grade
- Sipahi Clerk: Intermediate, minimum C grade (D grade accepted for merged KP districts, Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan), with computer knowledge
- Sanitary Worker: literate, up to Primary education
- Minimum height — Naib Khatib: 5 ft 3 in; Sipahi GD / Technical / Driver: 5 ft 6 in; Military Police: 5 ft 8 in; Clerk / Cook / Sanitary Worker: 5 ft 3 in
- Candidates must also meet the Pakistan Army's physical and medical standards, which are assessed during the selection process at the AS&RC
Age is the first thing to check, because it is calculated on a fixed date: 24 November 2026. If your age falls outside your trade's band on that date, you cannot be registered, so calculate carefully from your CNIC or Matric certificate date of birth. The notice itself gives three relaxations: graduates receive one extra year, the legal heirs of martyrs and war-injured personnel receive two years, and candidates from Balochistan and the merged districts (former FATA) receive three years. These relaxations come from the official notice, not from any agent, so claim only the one that genuinely applies to you and carry the supporting proof, such as a martyrdom certificate or your domicile.
Education is trade-specific. The Naib Khatib post needs a Dars-e-Nizami sanad from an HEC-recognised institution plus FA/FSc or equivalent; religious qualifications from institutions that are not recognised may need an equivalence certificate. As a general rule, degrees and certificates must come from recognised boards and institutions, and candidates with foreign or religious-board qualifications should obtain equivalence from the relevant authority (HEC or IBCC) before selection is finalised. Technical Trade candidates must have studied Science at Matric with at least a B grade, while Clerk candidates need Intermediate with at least a C grade — the D-grade concession applies only to the merged KP districts, Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan. Height is measured at the centre without shoes, and the standards differ by trade: Military Police requires the tallest candidates at 5 ft 8 in, while General Duty, Technical and Driver trades require 5 ft 6 in. Domicile-based concessions in standards apply to Balochistan and merged-district candidates in some trades; your AS&RC will confirm exactly which concession applies to your district. A separate quota for minorities applies in this recruitment, and every candidate must finally pass the Army's medical standards — eyesight, hearing, and general fitness are all checked during the medical examination.
Salary & Benefits
The official recruitment notice does not print a salary figure, and no fixed monthly amount should be believed from any unofficial source. Army pay works on a rank-and-trade structure: a soldier's income is made up of basic pay linked to his rank, plus the allowances and facilities that come with military service. In general terms, serving personnel receive accommodation or an allowance in lieu, free medical treatment for themselves and their families at military hospitals, ration and uniform facilities according to their entitlement, and leave and travel concessions under Army rules. Pay and allowances are revised by the government from time to time along with the pay of the armed forces, and they increase with promotion and length of service. On completing the required service, soldiers retire with a pension and other end-of-service benefits under the applicable rules. Because the exact starting pay depends on the trade, rank and the current pay revision, treat any specific rupee figure circulating on social media as unverified.
Selection Process
Selection starts with registration, either online or at your nearest AS&RC. Registered candidates then go through the centre's selection stages: initial tests (which typically cover intelligence and academic subjects such as English, Mathematics, General Knowledge and, for Naib Khatib, religious knowledge), followed by physical assessment and a detailed medical examination, and finally an interview. Only candidates who clear each stage move to the next, and final selection is made on merit.
Preparation guidance: revise Matric-level English, Mathematics and General Knowledge, and practise verbal and non-verbal intelligence questions, which are a standard part of initial screening. Build basic physical fitness in advance — regular running and push-ups — because the physical assessment is marked against fixed standards. Keep your original documents ready from day one; a missing certificate at the medical or interview stage can end your selection even if your tests went well.
Documents Required
- Original educational certificates and marks sheets, with attested photocopies
- Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
- Domicile certificate
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Attested photocopy of father's CNIC
- Dars-e-Nizami sanad and HEC equivalence/recognition documents (Naib Khatib candidates)
- Character certificate from the last institution attended or a gazetted officer
- Martyrdom / war-injury documents, if claiming the heirs' age relaxation
- Domicile-based proof, if claiming a Balochistan or merged-district concession
- Service documents / discharge book (serving or ex-service personnel, where applicable)
- Two sets of photocopies of all documents for the centre's file
How to Apply — Step by Step
- Choose your trade and check its education, age and height requirements in the official notice — the standards differ by trade, and registering for the wrong trade wastes your attempt
- Option A — register online at joinpakarmy.gov.pk before 16 November 2026 (online registration is helpful but not compulsory); note your registration details carefully after submitting
- Option B — visit your nearest Army Selection and Recruitment Centre (AS&RC) or Recruitment Office any time up to 23 November 2026 and register in person
- For JCO (Naib Khatib), submit the application on the prescribed form at the AS&RC named in the official notice
- Carry original certificates with attested photocopies, CNIC, domicile certificate and passport-size photographs — the centre checks originals at registration
- After registration, follow the selection stages at the centre — initial tests, medical and physical assessment, and interview — on the dates the centre gives you
There are two different closing dates in this recruitment, and mixing them up is the most common mistake: online registration closes on 16 November 2026, while registration at the centres continues until 23 November 2026. Do not wait for the last days, when centres are crowded. Army recruitment is merit-based and free of any agent's role — never pay any person who promises selection, and report anyone who asks for money in the Army's name.

Terms & Conditions
As is standard in armed forces recruitment notices of this kind, selection is made purely on merit through the prescribed tests, medical examination and interview, and the decision of the selection authorities is final. Applications or registrations found incomplete, or containing incorrect information, are liable to be rejected at any stage, and concealment of facts can lead to dismissal even after enrolment. The Army reserves the right to accept or reject any candidate and to change the number of vacancies or the selection schedule without assigning a reason. Candidates must appear at their own expense for tests and interviews at the centre allotted to them. Quotas prescribed by the government, including the minority quota mentioned in the notice, are observed as per policy. Serving government or Army personnel should apply through the proper channel of their organisation.
