About Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department Punjab
The Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department is a department of the Government of Punjab that looks after the province's forests, wildlife and fisheries. Its work covers the protection and management of forest areas, the conservation of wildlife and the development of fisheries, all of which depend heavily on knowing exactly what is happening on the ground across a very large province. That is why the department has set up a dedicated Geo-Spatial Planning and Monitoring setup, known as the Forest GIS Lab, at 108-Ravi Road Forest Colony in Lahore. The lab uses satellite imagery, geographic information systems and drone surveys to map forest cover, watch for illegal cutting and encroachment, plan plantations and monitor wildlife habitats. The current recruitment is for the development project titled GIS-Based Protection Regime and Establishment of Digital Communication Cell, which is building a modern digital protection and communication system for the department. The project brings together animation, data analysis, geospatial modelling and drone-based surveying, so the five advertised posts form one team rather than five unrelated jobs. All appointments are on a contract basis for the project period, and the department has its headquarters and principal offices in Lahore.
