Documents Required for Government Job Applications — Complete Checklist
Scrutiny rejects more applications for missing or mismatched documents than tests reject for low marks. Keep this standard document set ready — attested, in order — and you will never miss a deadline because of paperwork.

Every year, thousands of candidates who pass the written test lose the job at the scrutiny stage because a document is missing, unattested, or different from what they typed in the application form. The good news: the document set for government jobs in Pakistan is almost always the same. Prepare it once, keep it ready, and reuse it for every application.
The standard document set
- CNIC — your own valid Computerised National Identity Card (expired CNICs are not accepted; renew it before you apply)
- Domicile certificate — of the district and province whose quota you are claiming, issued by the district administration
- Educational documents — Matric and Intermediate certificates with detailed marks sheets, and every degree with its transcript, from recognised boards and HEC-recognised universities
- Passport-size photographs — recent, usually 2 to 4, as the advertisement specifies
- Experience certificates — for every job you claim, on the organisation's letterhead, showing the post, period of service and nature of duties, signed by an authorised officer
- Character certificate — from your last educational institution or a gazetted officer, where the advertisement asks for it
Additional documents, when applicable
- Departmental Permission Certificate (DPC) / NOC — compulsory if you are already a government employee applying through the proper channel
- Quota certificates — disability certificate from the authorised medical board, minority certificate, or service documents for ex-servicemen and employees' children quotas
- Equivalence certificate — from HEC for foreign degrees, or from IBCC for O/A-Level qualifications
- Professional registrations — for example PMDC/PMC for doctors, Pakistan Nursing Council for nurses, PEC for engineers, or the bar council for law posts, where the post requires them
Attestation rules
Where the advertisement says "attested copies", get them attested by a gazetted officer (BPS-17 or above) with the officer's official stamp showing name and designation. Photocopies must be clear and complete — a cropped marks sheet that hides the total marks is a common reason for objections. Always carry the originals to the interview; the panel verifies them there, and a candidate without originals is normally not interviewed.
Organise once, benefit forever
Keep one master file at home with the originals, one set of attested copies ready for dispatch, and a scanned copy of everything on your phone and email. When a new advertisement appears, your application then takes an hour — not a week of running between the board office, the domicile branch and the photocopy shop.
