10 Common Mistakes That Get Government Job Applications Rejected
Most rejections are not about merit — they are about paperwork. These ten mistakes appear in almost every recruitment's rejection list published by commissions. Check your application against each one.

Commissions publish rejection lists with reasons, and the same reasons repeat in every recruitment. None of them is about intelligence or marks — all of them are preventable. Before you submit any government job application, check it against this list.
The ten mistakes
- 1. Applying without the required education. If the post needs a Bachelor degree and you hold an Intermediate certificate, no experience compensates. "Result awaited" only works where the advertisement explicitly allows it
- 2. Wrong domicile or quota claim. Claiming a district or category quota without holding its domicile or certificate — the application is rejected at scrutiny, or the appointment is cancelled later
- 3. Age miscalculated. Age is counted on the closing date. Candidates who "will be under the limit when the test happens" are already over it in law
- 4. Name and date-of-birth mismatches. The form says one spelling, the Matric certificate another. Type everything from the documents, not from memory
- 5. Fee not paid, or paid wrongly. Unpaid fee, fee paid against another post's challan, or a fee receipt lost before scrutiny — all end the application
- 6. Applying after the closing date. Portals close at midnight on the last date; couriered hard copies must *reach* by the date, not be posted by it
- 7. Incomplete online form. Skipped sections, un-uploaded photograph, wrong post or centre selected — and the form submitted without a final review
- 8. Missing Departmental Permission Certificate. Serving government employees applying without the DPC/NOC face rejection even if they top the test
- 9. Unattested or unreadable documents. Photocopies without the gazetted officer's attestation where required, or scans in which marks and names cannot be read
- 10. False information. Any wrong claim — marks, experience, quota, a second domicile — leads to cancellation and can debar you from future examinations when discovered, even after appointment
The two-minute habit that prevents all ten
Before the final submit, open your documents and read the form once against them — name, CNIC, date of birth, each qualification with its marks, each experience claim. Then read the advertisement's eligibility paragraph once more. Two minutes at this stage is worth more than any appeal afterwards, because in commission recruitments there is effectively no appeal against a factual rejection.
